Congratulations respectively to Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams co-founder of the AACM, NEA Jazz Master and recipient of the 2014 Doris Duke Impact Award, to AACM member Roscoe Mitchell recipient of the 2014 Doris Duke Artist Award, AACM member Anthony Braxton on his 2014 NEA Jazz Masters Award and the premiere of his opera "Trillium J" The Non-Unconfessionables: Acts I, II, III and IV.

The AACM New York City Chapter congratulates Dr. Muhal Richard Abrams (#ImpactDD), on being the recipient of the Jazz Institute of Chicago's 2014 Walter Dyett Lifetime Achievement Award. The Jazz Institute of Chicago is honoring Dr. Abrams for his lifetime of creative spirit and creating community through his co-founding of the Jazz Institute of Chicago and the AACM (the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians); for his unending pursuit to open the world of creative sound to the world's ears; for teaching and leading generations of artists to discover new horizons for themselves and for the music. This award will be presented at the Jazz Institute's 4.5 Decades of Jazz Excellence Gala on Thursday, October 15, 2014 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
